Written by Qasim

Before You Start

  1. You must have Admin access.

  2. At least one competency framework must be configured under Competencies > Framework.

  3. Talents must have been assessed or rated on their competencies to appear in the Analysis page.

Overview

The Analysis page, under the Competencies pillar, gives admins a full view of how the organization's competencies compare against expectations. It includes two main views covered in this article: Competencies Matrix, for a talent-by-talent breakdown of levels, and Gaps, for identifying where the biggest skill gaps exist across your team.

Accessing the Analysis Page

  1. From the Admin panel sidebar, click Competencies.

  2. Click Analysis.

  3. The page opens on the Competencies Matrix tab by default.

Competencies Matrix

Reading the Matrix

The Competencies Matrix displays every talent in a table, with their competencies grouped by category (for example, Technical Skills, Leadership & Mgmt, Marketing).

  • The Talent Readiness row shows each talent's overall percentage match against expected competency levels, along with a status label (e.g., Matching).

  • Each competency row shows the talent's level as a colored badge (L1–L5), using the legend at the bottom of the table:

    • Critical Gap

    • Minor Gap

    • Matching/On Target

    • Exceeding

    • for Not Evaluated / Doesn't Have It

Filtering and Searching

  • Use Search by competency to find a specific competency.

  • Use All / Gaps Only to toggle between showing every talent or only those with gaps.

  • Use By Talents, By Roles, or By Department to change how the matrix is grouped.

  • Use the All Job Roles dropdown to filter by a specific job role.

Viewing In-Depth Competency Analysis

Click any result cell in the matrix to open a detailed breakdown for that talent's rating on that competency. The panel shows:

  • Definition: what the competency means

  • Synonyms: related terms for the competency

  • Behavior Indicators: the specific behaviors expected at each level

  • Expected Level vs Current Level: with a match status (e.g., Matching), and which indicators the talent currently meets

  • AI Summary: a generated summary comparing the talent's level to their peers

💡 Tip: Click a talent's avatar in the matrix to open their full Skills Passport for a complete view of their gaps, competency spider chart, and potential future role suggestions.

Managing Methods

To determine how competency levels are calculated for your organization, for example, using AI Competency Assessments, Psychometric Assessments, or other methods.

📝 Note: Manage Methods is covered in more detail in a separate article, Configuring Competency Evaluation Methods.

Gaps

Overview

The Gaps tab shows where competency weaknesses exist across your organization, both at a high level and per talent.

Reading the Analytics

At the top of the page, three summary cards show:

  • Talents with Gaps: percentage and count of talents with at least one gap

  • Avg Gaps per Talent: average number of levels talents with gaps are behind

  • Top Gap Competency: the competency with the most gaps organization-wide

Browsing Talent Gaps

Below the summary cards, each talent appears as a card showing:

  • Name, role, and avatar

  • A gap count badge (e.g., 3 Gaps)

  • Their Top Gap: the competency with their biggest gap

Use Search by talent name, Filters, or Reset to narrow the list.

Viewing Talent Insight

Click View Details on any talent card to open their Competency Gap Analysis page. This page shows:

  • The talent's Job role fit score

  • AI Recommended Actions: specific suggestions (e.g., assign a mentor, enroll in a course, re-assess a competency), each tagged by priority (High, Medium, Low) and type (e.g., Mentorship, Development, Data Quality)

  • Competencies Analysis: a spider chart of all the talent's competencies, plus a breakdown panel showing their current level, expected level, indicators, and example tasks for each proficiency level

  • Competency Gaps: a full list of the talent's gaps, tagged as Critical Gap or Need Training, with their talent level and expected level shown side by side

💡 Tip: Click Show Talent Profile at the top of this page to open the talent's full Skills Passport. You can also click Generate Again next to AI Recommended Actions to refresh the suggestions, or click Generate Learning for Gaps to generate training materials targeted at the gaps listed below it.

FAQs

What's the difference between the Competencies Matrix and Gaps tabs?

The Matrix shows every talent's level across all competencies. Gaps focuses specifically on where talents fall short of expected levels.

How is Talent Readiness calculated?

It reflects how closely a talent's current competency levels match the expected levels for their role, shown as a percentage in the Matrix.

How is a talent's competency level calculated?

It depends on the evaluation method configured, for example, an AI Competency Assessment, a Psychometric Assessment, or another method. Admins set this up via Manage Methods.

Can I export the data from either tab?

Yes. Click Export at the top of the page to download a full report.

What does "Not Evaluated / Doesn't Have It" mean in the Matrix?

It means the talent hasn't been assessed on that competency, or the competency doesn't apply to their role.

Where can I see a talent's full profile, including their potential future role?

Open their Skills Passport, accessible from the Matrix, or via Show Talent Profile on their Competency Gap Analysis page.
