Before You Begin
You need Super Admin or Admin access to configure a performance cycle.
Step 6 follows Step 5: Work Flow. Complete Step 5 before continuing.
The Score Formula step determines how scores from individual review stages are aggregated and mapped to performance levels. Review your workflow structure from Step 5 before configuring this step.
Score Calculation Scope
The Score Calculation Scope section determines whether the score formula applies to all participants in the cycle using one unified formula, or whether you define separate formulas for different groups.
You can choose to apply the formula at one of these levels:
All participants — one formula applies to everyone in the cycle regardless of their role, department, or division.
By Role — define a different formula for each job role.
By Department — define a different formula per department.
By Division — define a different formula per division.
This is useful when different groups in your organization are measured differently. For example, a sales team may weight Goals more heavily than Competencies, while a support team uses an equal split.
Final Score Method
The Final Score Method determines how scores from multiple reviews are combined when a performance sheet has more than one review stage.
Choose one of two methods:
Average — The final score is the weighted average of scores from all included reviews. Use this when you want all reviews to contribute proportionally to the overall result.
Sum — The final score is the sum of scores from all included reviews. Use this when you want scores to accumulate across reviews rather than average out.
Reviews Formulas
The Reviews Formulas section lets you configure the score calculation for each review step in the workflow. For each review, you can define:
Which reviewer roles contribute scores (per reviewer role).
How scores from each component (Goals, Competencies, Appraisal) are weighted within that review.
Each component is assigned a percentage weight. The weights within a review must total 100%.
For example, if a review includes Goals at 60% and Competencies at 40%, Lumofy calculates that review's score by weighting goal scores at 60% and competency scores at 40%.
Final Score Formula
The Final Score Formula section sets the percentage weight each review contributes to the overall final score.
If your workflow has multiple review stages (e.g., a First Review and a Second Review), assign a weight to each. The weights must total 100%.
For example:
First Review: 40%
Second Review: 60%
This means the second review has more impact on the final performance score than the first.
Map Performance Levels
The Map Performance Levels section maps final score ranges to performance level labels. This determines which performance level a talent receives based on their calculated final score.
Define bands by setting a score range for each level:
Level | Example Range |
Low Performance | 0% to 49% |
Average Performance | 50% to 79% |
High Performance | 80% to 100% |
The number of bands and their labels are configurable. Adjust the ranges to reflect your organization's performance standards.
The performance level labels used here appear on performance sheets and in reports after the cycle closes.
Saving and Moving to Step 7
At the bottom of the page:
Cancel — exits the wizard without saving.
Save as Draft — saves the score formula configuration and keeps the cycle in Draft status.
← Back — returns to Step 5: Work Flow.
Next → — saves Step 6 and moves to Step 7: Auto-Scores.
FAQ
What is the difference between Final Score Method Average and Sum?
What is the difference between Final Score Method Average and Sum?
Average divides the combined review scores by the number of reviews to produce a single percentage. Sum adds all review scores together. Average is better when reviews carry equal importance and you want a consistent 0-100 scale. Sum is better when each review contributes a partial score that builds up to a total.
Do all reviews in the workflow need to be included in the score formula?
Do all reviews in the workflow need to be included in the score formula?
No. You can choose which review stages contribute to the final score. Stages like Acknowledge or Approval do not generate scores and are not included.
What happens if I add more review steps in Step 5 after configuring Step 6?
What happens if I add more review steps in Step 5 after configuring Step 6?
You will need to return to Step 6 and update the Final Score Formula to include the new review and assign it a weight. Always finalize your workflow in Step 5 before completing Step 6.
Do Talents need to complete anything before Week 4 content is assigned?
Do Talents need to complete anything before Week 4 content is assigned?
Competency Assessments should be complete. Their results directly inform which content is most relevant for each Talent.
Can I change the performance level bands after the cycle launches?
Can I change the performance level bands after the cycle launches?
No. Score formula settings are locked once the cycle moves past Draft status. Define your bands carefully before launching.
