Creating Certification Templates

Learn how to design company-branded certificate templates.

Written by Abdelrahman Tarek

Before You Start

  • You must have Admin access to edit Company Templates

  • Open Company > Company Templates and select the Certifications tab

  • Have your company logo and brand colors ready

Overview

Certificate templates are edited from Company Templates. You pick a template, customize its branding and content in the editor, choose the certificate type, and save. Each template has a Preview so you can see your changes before you save.

Duplicate a Default Template

Default templates are read-only. You cannot edit or delete them directly. To customize one, duplicate it first and edit the copy.

  1. Go to Company > Company Templates.

  2. Select the Certifications tab.

  3. Find the default template closest to what you want.

  4. Open its menu (the three dots) and select Duplicate.

  5. Open the menu on the new copy and select edit. The Editing dialog opens with Settings on the left and Preview on the right.

💡 Tip: Start from the layout closest to what you want. Templates come in left, center, and right variants in English and Arabic.

⚠️ Warning: Default templates cannot be edited or deleted. Always work from a duplicate.

Set Attributes

The Attributes tab controls what appears on the certificate.

  1. In the Editing dialog, select Attributes.

  2. Toggle each field on or off: Lumofy logo, Talent national ID, Company logo, Course publisher, Issue date, Expire date, and Hours. Toggling a field on shows it on the certificate; toggling it off hides it.

  3. Under Certificate Type, choose Appreciation or Completion. This changes the heading on the certificate, for example "Certificate of Appreciation" or "Certificate of Completion".

💡 Tip: Watch the Preview pane as you toggle fields and switch the certificate type, so you can see each change on the certificate before saving.

Set the Background

The Background tab has two modes: Color and Image.

  1. Select the Background tab.

  2. To use a solid color, select Color, then pick a color from the picker, enter a HEX value, set the opacity percentage, or choose one of the preset swatches.

  3. To use a background image, select Image, then click or drag a file into the upload area. One image is supported per template.

💡 Tip: Some layouts also let you style a separate top band. Look for a Top Part option in the Background tab when it applies to your template.

Set the Text

The Text tab has two color groups: Primary Text and Secondary Text.

  1. Select the Text tab.

  2. Select Primary Text to color the main text, such as the certificate title and the Talent's name.

  3. Select Secondary Text to color the supporting text, such as the "proudly presented to" line and the body paragraph.

  4. For each, set the color from the picker, enter a HEX value, set the opacity percentage, or choose a preset swatch.

Choose the Logo

  1. Select the Lumofy Logo tab.

  2. Choose the logo variant that fits your certificate background.

Save Your Changes

  1. Review your changes in the Preview pane.

  2. Select Save Changes.

How a Template Becomes Active

A template's status changes to Active when you assign it to a learning item, such as a course or pathway. You do this in the Certificate Setup step of that learning item, not from Company Templates.

⚠️ Warning: An Active template cannot be edited. Once a template is assigned to a learning item, it is locked. Finish all your changes and save before you assign it.

💡 Tip: If you need to change an Active template, duplicate it, edit the copy, and assign the copy instead.
