Before You Begin
You need Super Admin or Admin access to configure a performance cycle.
This step follows Step 1: Cycle Details. Complete Step 1 before continuing.
The components you select here determine which configuration sections appear in Step 3: Cycle Configurations. Only enabled components will be configurable.
What Are Cycle Components?
Cycle components define what the performance cycle measures. Every talent's performance sheet will contain the components you enable here. Lumofy divides components into two categories: Main Components and Supporting Components.
Main Components
Main components form the core evaluation framework of the cycle.
Smart Goals
Smart Goals — Performance goals aligned with the talent's role and cycle expectations.
When enabled, talents and managers set individual goals at the start of the cycle. Goals are tracked throughout the cycle and reviewed at defined stages. Smart Goals supports numeric and qualitative KPIs, goal types, target weights, and alignment to department or division goals. Full configuration is in Step 3: Goals Settings.
Competencies
Competencies — Behavioral skills that define how a talent performs in their role.
When enabled, the cycle includes a competency assessment. You assign which competencies apply per job level and define their weights in Step 3: Competencies Settings.
Appraisal
Appraisal — Add custom questions to collect qualitative feedback.
When enabled, you build a custom appraisal form with your own questions. Forms support rating scales and open text questions. You can add multiple form sections and use AI to generate question suggestions. Full configuration is in Step 3: Appraisals Settings.
Supporting Components
Supporting components add additional layers of evaluation to the cycle.
Training Needs
Training Needs — Training needs recommended for development purposes.
When enabled, the cycle captures training and development recommendations for each talent. Training Needs scoring can be configured in Step 7: Auto-Scores.
Potential Rating
Potential Rating — An evaluation of the talent's future readiness and growth potential.
When enabled, reviewers assess each talent's future potential alongside current performance. This creates a dual-axis view combining performance and potential, useful for succession planning and talent reviews.
Selecting Components
Check the box next to each component you want to include. You can select any combination across the two categories.
At least one Main Component must be selected before you can proceed to Step 3.
Saving and Moving to Step 3
At the bottom of the page:
Cancel — exits the wizard without saving. Unsaved changes on this step are lost.
Save as Draft — saves your component selection and keeps the cycle in Draft status.
Next → — saves this step and moves to Step 3: Cycle Configurations.
