Quiz Engine Overview

Understand how quizzes work in Lumofy to evaluate Talent knowledge and reinforce learning outcomes.

Before You Start

  • You must have Admin access to create and manage quizzes

  • Quizzes live under Develop > Quizzes, alongside your other learning items

  • If you want to link a quiz to a role's skills, your Competencies framework should already be configured

Overview

The Quiz Engine lets Admins build assessments that measure what Talent knows and reinforce key concepts after learning. A quiz is one of the learning items in Lumofy, and it can stand on its own or sit inside a Course or Development pathway. Each quiz can mix question types, score automatically, and feed results back to Talent and Admins.

You manage all quizzes from Develop > Quizzes. The library lists every quiz with its language and library status, and the New Quiz button starts a new one.

What a Quiz Is

A quiz is a structured set of questions an Admin builds to check understanding of a specific topic. Talent answers the questions, the engine scores the attempt, and the result shows whether they met the passing mark.

Quizzes support three question types:

  • Multiple Choice: one or more correct answers from a list of options

  • Fill the Blank: Talent types the missing word or phrase

  • True or False: a single statement to confirm or reject

You can also link a quiz to Competencies, so a completed attempt reflects progress on the skills tied to a Talent's role.

How a Quiz Is Built

Every quiz moves through three stages: Quiz Details for the name and language, Quiz Configurations for Competencies, attempts, timer, and scoring, and Quiz Builder for the questions themselves.

For the full step by step walkthrough, see Creating a Quiz.

How Quizzes Are Scored

Scoring is handled by the engine based on what you set in Quiz Configurations. When Enable Scoring is on, you define a Pass Score and a Passing Score, and choose a scoring method. The engine grades each attempt automatically and marks it as passed or failed against your threshold.

You can also assign points per question in the Quiz Builder, which feed into the overall result and can contribute to the Leaderboard.

📝 Note: If you allow more than one attempt, the engine records each try so you and the Talent can see how performance changes across attempts.

Where Quizzes Fit

A quiz can be used on its own as a quick knowledge check, or placed inside larger learning items. Because it is a learning item, you can add it to a Course or attach it to a Development pathway so it becomes part of a structured learning journey rather than a standalone test.

FAQs

Can a quiz be in both English and Arabic?

Yes. Add an Arabic version in the Quiz Details step to make the quiz bilingual, and Talent can select the language they prefer.

Are quizzes graded automatically?

Yes. When scoring is enabled, the engine grades every attempt against your Pass Score and shows whether the Talent passed.

Can Talent retake a quiz?

That depends on the number of attempts you set in Quiz Configurations. If you allow more than one, Talent can try again up to that limit.

Do quiz results affect the Leaderboard?

Points earned on questions can contribute to a Talent's standing on the Leaderboard.

Can a quiz be part of a Course or pathway?

Yes. A quiz is a learning item, so you can add it to a Course or include it in a Development pathway.
