Overview
A Learning Pathway is a structured sequence of learning content that guides a Talent through a defined development journey. Instead of assigning individual courses or content items separately, a Pathway groups them into a coherent experience with milestones, a logical order, and optional assessments at the start and end. Pathways live under Develop → Pathways and are one of the primary tools for structured talent development in Lumofy.
What a Pathway Contains
A Pathway is built around Milestones named stages that group related content items together. Inside each Milestone, you can add any of the following content types:
Courses — full structured learning modules
Kits & Guides — curated resource collections and written guides
Bites — short-form content pieces for quick learning
Quizzes — knowledge checks
Checkpoints — progress markers or manual sign-off points
Psychometrics — personality or aptitude assessments
In addition to milestone content, a Pathway can have:
Pre Assessment — an optional assessment at the start. Talents must pass it to unlock the Pathway
Post Assessment — an optional assessment at the end to measure learning outcomes
📝 Note: Sessions cannot be added to a Pathway. Sessions are managed separately under Develop → Sessions.
Pathway States
A Pathway can be in one of two states:
State | What it means |
Draft | Pathway is saved but not visible to Talents. You can continue editing it |
Published | Pathway is live and can be assigned to or discovered by Talents |
There is no approval step between Draft and Published any Admin with permissions can publish directly.
How Pathways Connect to the Platform
Competencies When configuring a Pathway, you can link it to specific competencies from your framework. Completing the Pathway signals development progress toward those competencies.
Categories Pathways are organized into categories that help Talents discover relevant content. Assigning a category makes the Pathway easier to find through search and filtering.
Certificates A certificate can optionally be awarded to Talents upon completing a Pathway.
Content Providers In addition to content you create yourself (My Content), Pathways can include content from external providers connected to your Lumofy account.
Self-Enrollment
By default, Pathways are assigned by Admins or Managers. Admins can enable self-enrollment on a Pathway, which allows Talents to discover and enroll in it on their own without waiting to be assigned.
Pinning Pathways
From the Pathways list, you can pin up to 5 Pathways to keep them at the top of your list for quick access. Pinned Pathways appear at the top of the list with a pin indicator.

What happens if a Talent fails the Pre Assessment?
What happens if a Talent fails the Pre Assessment?
The Pathway remains locked for that Talent until they pass the Pre Assessment. They cannot access the milestone content until the requirement is met.

A Pathway is created in one language either Arabic or English selected at the start of the creation process. If you need the same Pathway in both languages, you create two separate Pathways.
