Competency Assessments must be enabled by your Admin
Your role must have competencies assigned to it
Overview
Lumofy generates personalized competency assessments using AI, tailored to your role. From your Competencies Development page, you can see all the competencies assigned to you, take assessments to measure your current proficiency level, and view your results. Your level is tracked over time so you can see your progress with each new attempt.
Step 1: Open Your Competencies Development Page
1- From the top navigation bar, click Home
2- Scroll down to the My Competencies section
3- Click View All to open the Competencies Development page
4- The page shows all competencies linked to your role, with a counter next to the page title showing the total
5- Click Add New Competency in the top right to add a competency for personal development
Each competency card shows:
Current Level and Next Level: your current proficiency and the next level to reach
Take Assessment button: starts or retakes the assessment for that competency
Next Assessment on [date]: appears instead of the Take Assessment button when your next attempt is not yet available
Develop button: opens learning content to help build that competency
Re-Assessment and Maintain Skill: appear when you reach the top level. The card shows Expert (Top Level Achieved!) with the message "Keep practicing to maintain expertise."
📝 Note: If a card shows the message "Take the assessment to determine your current level and get personalized development recommendations" instead of level information, you have not taken an assessment for that competency yet. Click Take Assessment to get your first proficiency measurement.
Step 2: Start an Assessment
1- Click Take Assessment on any competency card
2- The Assessment Instructions screen appears with the following details:
Number of questions: total questions in this assessment
Has a time limit of: total time allowed (e.g. 10 mins)
Questions displayed per page: how many questions appear per screen
Last Attempt Date: when you last took this assessment
3- Read the Important Before You Start notice: make sure your internet connection is stable. Leaving the page or losing your connection will automatically submit your answers.
4- Below the instructions, a card asks "Ready to evaluate your [Competency]?" Click Start Assessment when you are ready, or Back to Home to return without starting
Step 3: Choose Your Assessment Language
1- Select either English or Arabic
2- Click Select → to confirm
Questions and AI-generated feedback will be delivered in the language you choose. You cannot change the language once the assessment has started.
Step 4: Wait for the Assessment to Be Prepared
Lumofy AI generates a personalized assessment for your competency. A loading screen tracks four preparation stages:
Analyzing Competency Requirement: understanding the core competency and knowledge areas
Preparing Questions: creating your personalized assessment questions
Calibrating Difficulty: adjusting question complexity for accurate evaluation
Finalizing Assessment: preparing your personalized competency evaluation
This usually takes 30 to 60 seconds. Do not close the window or navigate away during this time.
Step 5: Answer the Questions
Each question page shows:
A Scenario: a work context paragraph that frames the question
The Question itself
Multiple-choice answer options select one answer
Use Previous and Next at the bottom to move between questions. The timer in the top right and the Progress counter (e.g. 0/4) show your remaining time and how many questions you have answered.
When you reach the last question, the button changes from Next to Complete Assessment.
💡 Tip: Read the scenario carefully before answering. Each scenario is tailored to your job context and tests real-world application of the competency.
⚠️ Warning: If you switch to another tab or window during the assessment, a Stay Focused alert appears: "Switching tabs isn't allowed during this assessment. Please stay on this page to continue." Click Continue Assessment to resume.
Step 7: View Your Results
After submitting, your results screen shows:
Your Overall Score: your current level (e.g. Skilful) alongside your Previous Level, with a trend indicator showing whether your level improved, stayed the same, or declined
Assessment Information: Last Attempt date and Time Taken
Click Back to Home to return to the Competencies Development page.

Your answers up to that point are automatically submitted. Your proficiency level will be calculated based only on the completed responses.
Can I retake an assessment?

Yes, but only after the reassessment period set by your Admin has passed. If a retake is not yet available, your competency card shows "Next Assessment on [date]" instead of the Take Assessment button.
Why is there no Take Assessment button on some of my competency cards?

If a card shows only a Develop button, Competency Assessments may not yet be enabled for your organization. Contact your Admin to confirm the configuration.
What are the proficiency levels?

Levels reflect how your answers compare against the competency definition: Beginner, Knowledgeable, Capable, Skilful, or Expert. The AI evaluates the accuracy and relevance of your responses in the context of your role.
