Acknowledgment

Learn when talents are asked to acknowledge content on their performance sheet and what the acknowledgment step involves.

Written by Mohamed Shantory

Before You Begin

  • The Acknowledge step is added to the workflow in Step 5: Work Flow by the admin. It is not automatic — it must be deliberately placed in the workflow sequence.

  • Acknowledgment is performed by the talent. It is a single button action — no comment or form is required.

  • If the talent does not acknowledge before the step timeline closes, the system automatically marks the sheet as acknowledged and the cycle moves forward.

What Acknowledgment Is For

The Acknowledge step gives the talent formal visibility into content that was added or decided on their behalf. It is used in two distinct situations within a cycle:

1. Sheet Acknowledgment — When a manager fills the performance sheet on behalf of the talent, the talent needs to see and confirm the goals and content that were entered for them. The Acknowledge step is placed in the workflow after the manager submits the sheet (and after any admin approval if applicable).

2. Review Acknowledgment — After a manager completes their review of the talent's performance, the Acknowledge step gives the talent visibility into their review scores. The talent sees their evaluation results before the cycle moves to the next stage.

Both situations use the same step type in the workflow. The admin decides which context applies by placing the Acknowledge step at the right position in the workflow sequence.

How the Talent Finds a Pending Acknowledgment

When an Acknowledge step opens, the talent receives a notification. They can access pending acknowledgments from two places:

Things To-Do (Home) — The home dashboard shows a pending task prompting the talent to submit their acknowledgment before the deadline.

Notification — The bell icon shows a direct notification linking to the performance sheet that needs acknowledgment.

Acknowledging the Sheet

When the Acknowledge step follows a manager-filled sheet, the talent opens their performance sheet and sees the full content the manager submitted: goals, competencies, and training needs.

The sheet is read-only at this stage — the talent cannot add, remove, or change any content.

At the bottom of the sheet, click Acknowledge Goals to confirm. Once clicked:

  • The sheet is marked as acknowledged.

  • The cycle moves to the next step in the workflow.

  • The talent cannot undo the acknowledgment.

Acknowledging a Review

When the Acknowledge step follows a Review step, the talent opens their sheet and sees their review results. This view includes:

  • Review Score — The overall score calculated from the review.

  • Goal Evaluation — The score and rating label assigned to the Goals component.

  • Competencies Evaluation — The score and rating label assigned to the Competencies component.

  • Training Needs — The Training Needs score if applicable.

  • Numeric Breakdown — A detailed table showing each goal with its progress, status, linked score, linear rating, and action notes.

At the top right of the page, click Acknowledge to confirm that the talent has seen their review results. Once clicked:

  • The sheet is marked as acknowledged.

  • The cycle moves to the next step.

Auto-Acknowledgment

If the talent does not acknowledge before the Acknowledge step's timeline closes, Lumofy automatically marks the sheet as acknowledged. The cycle continues without the talent's manual input.

This ensures the cycle timeline is not blocked by a single outstanding acknowledgment.

FAQ

Can the talent make changes after acknowledging?

No. Acknowledgment is a read-only confirmation. The talent cannot edit the sheet content or review scores at this stage.

Can the talent add a comment or dispute when acknowledging?

No. The Acknowledge step is a single button action with no comment field. If the talent needs to raise a concern about their scores, the Appeal step (if configured in the workflow) is the correct channel for that.

Does the Acknowledge step always follow a Review step?

Not always. It can also follow the stage where a manager fills the sheet on behalf of the talent. The admin places the step where it is needed in the workflow.

Will the talent be notified before the auto-acknowledgment deadline?

The talent receives a notification when the Acknowledge step opens. If email reminders are configured in Step 9: Emails, they will also receive email reminders as the deadline approaches.
