Before You Begin
Goals Settings is part of Step 3: Cycle Configurations. You reach it after completing Steps 1 and 2.
This section only appears if you enabled Smart Goals in Step 2: Cycle Components.
Step 3 is one page containing multiple expandable sections — Goals, Competencies, Appraisal, and Potential Rating. This article covers the Goals section only.
Goals Settings is powered by AI. The AI badge next to the section header indicates AI-assisted features are available within this component.
Navigating to Goals Settings
In Step 3: Cycle Configurations, expand the Goals section by clicking on it. The Goals section appears at the top of the page. All settings on this page save automatically when you click Next → to proceed to Step 4.
Goal Alignment
Goal Alignment toggle controls whether talents' goals must align with a higher-level organizational goal structure.
When Goal Alignment is ON, you choose the alignment model:
Department Goals — Use this when each department has its own goals. Talents' individual goals align to department-level goals set by department managers.
Division goals — Use this when each division has its own goals. Alignment targets division-level goals instead of department-level goals.
After selecting the alignment model, a configuration box appears showing the current division or department selection. Click Manage divisions to add or remove which divisions are included in the alignment structure.
Require Alignment
Require Alignment toggle (default OFF) forces talents to align their goals to a parent goal before they can save. When OFF, alignment is optional talents can set goals without linking to a department or division goal.
Goal Alignment KPIs
Goal Alignment KPIs toggle controls whether talents' individual goals include KPIs that mirror the KPI type used in the parent goal.
When enabled, choose the KPI type:
Numerical KPIs — Measure performance using numeric targets and actual results. For example: "Increase revenue to 500,000 SAR".
Static KPIs — Track performance using qualitative KPIs without numeric values. For example: "Complete the compliance training module".
Goals Types
Goals Types toggle controls whether talents can categorize their goals by type (for example: Learning, Operational, Strategic).
When enabled, a configuration box appears. Click Manage Goal Types to add, edit, or remove the goal type options available to talents when they create goals.
Goals Weight
Goals Weight toggle controls whether each goal carries a percentage weight that affects how it contributes to the talent's overall goals score.
When enabled, talents assign a weight percentage to each goal they create. The total weight across all goals must equal 100%.
Goals Limit
Goals Limit toggle sets a cap on how many goals a talent can create.
When enabled, choose how the limit applies:
Set Limit for All Types — one overall goal count limit applies regardless of goal type.
Set Limit for Each Types — you define a separate goal count limit per goal type.
Goals Number Limits
Goals Number Limits toggle sets the maximum number of goals allowed per talent (or per goal type if "Set Limit for Each Types" is selected).
Goals Weight Limits
Goals Weight Limits toggle sets minimum and maximum weight percentages allowed per goal (or per goal type).
When both Number Limits and Weight Limits are enabled with "Set Limit for Each Types", a configuration box appears. Click Set Limits to define the limits per goal type.
Goals KPIs
Goals KPIs toggle controls whether individual goals (not just alignment goals) include KPIs.
When enabled, choose the KPI type for individual goals:
Numerical KPIs — numeric targets and actual results.
Static KPIs — qualitative KPIs without numeric values.
Both KPI types can be enabled simultaneously if you want talents to choose between them when adding KPIs to their goals.
Saving and Moving Forward
All Goals settings are saved when you click Next → from the Step 3 page. You do not need to save within the Goals section separately — it is part of the overall Step 3 page.
