Before You Start

  • You must have Admin access to build and score quizzes

  • Question types and points are set in the Quiz Builder step

  • Scoring options are set in the Quiz Configurations step, under Quiz Score

Overview

A quiz supports three question types: Multiple Choice, Fill The Blank, and True or False. The engine grades answers automatically against the correct answer you define, and totals the points based on the scoring method you choose.

Question Types

Multiple Choice

Talent picks from a list of options. You set one correct answer by default, or turn on Multiple Answer to mark several options as correct. Use Randomise Choices to shuffle the order of options for each Talent.

The answer is correct when Talent selects the option, or all options, you marked as correct.

Fill The Blank

Talent types the missing word or phrase into the answer field. You define the expected answer, and the engine checks the response against it.

💡 Tip: Keep the expected answer short and specific so the response is easy to match.

True or False

Talent confirms or rejects a single statement. You set whether the statement is true or false, and the engine grades the response against that.

How Scoring Works

Scoring is controlled in Quiz Configurations under Quiz Score. When Enable Scoring is on, you set a total Quiz Score, a Passing Score, and a Scoring Method.

Equal scoring

The total Quiz Score is split evenly across all questions. Every question is worth the same number of points, so you do not set points per question.

Manual scoring

You assign points to each question yourself, in the Points field on the question in the Quiz Builder. The points you set are awarded when that question is answered correctly. This lets you weight harder questions more heavily.

📝 Note: A question only earns its points when answered correctly. The total of all earned points is compared against the Passing Score to decide pass or fail.

How the Result Is Calculated

  1. The engine grades each question against the correct answer you defined.

  2. Correct answers earn points, based on Equal or Manual scoring.

  3. The earned points are totalled into the quiz score.

  4. The score is compared against the Passing Score to mark the attempt as passed or failed.

FAQs

What question types can I use?

Multiple Choice, Fill The Blank, and True or False.

Can a Multiple Choice question have more than one correct answer?

Yes. Turn on Multiple Answer, then mark every correct option.

What is the difference between Equal scoring and Manual scoring?

Equal scoring divides the total points evenly across questions. Manual scoring lets you set the points for each question yourself.

Where do I set points for a question?

In the Points field on the question in the Quiz Builder. This field appears only when Manual scoring is selected.

How is pass or fail decided?

The engine totals the points earned and compares them against the Passing Score set in Quiz Configurations.
