Before You Start
You must be a Super Admin or an Admin with content management permissions
The Content Builder is Step 2 of the course creation wizard. See [Creating a Course] if you have not started a course yet
Items are added inside Modules. You need at least one module before you can add content
Overview
The Content Builder gives you a panel of draggable items on the right side of the screen. You drag any item into a module to add it to the course. Items are grouped into two categories: Basic Items and Interactive Items.
You can reorder items within a module by dragging them, and move items between modules at any time. There is no limit on the number of modules or items per course.
Working with Modules
Modules are the top-level containers that organise your course content — think of them as chapters.
Click Module in the Content Building Items panel (under New Module) to add a new module
Drag the handle (⠿) to reorder modules
Click ⋮ on any module to rename or delete it
Deleting a module removes all items inside it
Two Features Available on Every Item
Supporting Text
Every content item has a + Supporting Text button in its top right corner. Use it to add a rich text block directly above or below the item — useful for introducing a concept before the item, or adding notes and context after it. Supporting text is visible to Talents as part of the course content.
Design Type
Most interactive items (Accordion, Steps, List, Tabs, Flipping Card) let you choose between Default Design and Modern Design. These control how the item is visually presented to Talents:
Default Design — a clean, straightforward layout focused on content
Modern Design — a visually enhanced layout that combines text with images in a more engaging presentation
Click the ? icon next to the design type selector to see a preview of both options with example screenshots before you choose.
Basic Items
Text
A rich text block for written content. The editor supports font family, font colour, heading styles, alignment, bold, italic, underline, bullet lists, numbered lists, links, emojis, and inline images. A Use Template option is available if you want to start from a pre-built text structure.
Video
Add a video to your course. Choose one option:
Upload Video — upload a file in MP4, OGG, or WEBM format (single file only)
Add Video URL — paste a link from YouTube, Vimeo, or another video platform
After uploading or linking a video, you can click + Subtitles to attach a subtitles file to the video.

Audio
Add an audio file to your course. Choose one option:
Upload Audio — upload an audio file (single file only)
Add Audio URL — paste a link to an externally hosted audio file
Interactive Items
Accordion
An expandable/collapsible panel list. Choose Default Design or Modern Design for how it appears to Talents.
Each accordion panel has:
A title — always visible, shown as the collapsed header
A rich text body — revealed when the Talent expands the panel (supports text, headings, lists, images, links)
Click ⋮ on any panel to delete it. Drag the (⠿) handle to reorder panels.
Steps
A numbered sequence of steps. Choose Default Design or Modern Design.
Steps are displayed as numbered tabs at the top click + to add a new step. Each step has its own rich text editor. A Create With AI button is available to generate step content automatically.
List
A structured list of items. Choose Default Design or Modern Design:
Default Design — a vertical layout where each item has a checkmark icon Talents can mark as completed. Clean and efficient for linear reading.
Modern Design — items displayed beside an image in a side-by-side layout, combining text and visuals for a more engaging experience.
Each list item has a title and a rich text body. Click + New List Item to add more items. A Create With AI button is available.
Tabs
A tabbed content panel. Choose Default Design or Modern Design.
Each tab has a title and a rich text body. Talents click the tab title to switch between sections. In the Talent preview, tabs appear as cards until clicked.
Click + New Step to add a new tab. Drag the (⠿) handle to reorder tabs.
Flipping Card
A two-sided card the Talent flips to reveal the back. Use it for vocabulary, definitions, questions and answers, or concept pairs.
Choose one of three layout options (Card design type):
Text on both sides
Front: Image / Back: Text
Front: Text / Back: Image
Click + New Card to add more cards. The flip icon (↻) on each card lets you preview the flip in the editor.
Hotspot
An image with interactive numbered marker points placed on top. When a Talent clicks a marker, a popup appears with the text you added for that point.
How to set it up:
Upload an image in the Hot Spot Image section
Click anywhere on the image to place a numbered marker
Add a text description to the marker popup
Repeat for each point you want to highlight
Use the Choose Marker Style dropdown to change the visual style of the markers
I-Frame
Embeds an external web page or tool directly inside the course. Paste a URL in the I-Frame Link field and the page renders inline for Talents to interact with.
📝 Note: The external URL must support embedding. Some websites block I-Frame embedding by default.
Drag and Drop
An interactive matching activity. You create pairs — each pair has an Item to Match (left column) and a Matching Option (right column). Talents drag items from the left to match them with their correct pair on the right.
Click + New Drag and Drop Item to add more pairs
Each item and matching option must contain a minimum of 5 characters
Quiz
A knowledge check embedded inside the course. Questions are listed in the left panel; you configure each question in the right panel.
Question types:
Multiple Choice — Talents select one correct answer from a list of choices (toggle Multiple Answer on to allow more than one correct answer)
True or False — Talents decide whether a statement is true or false
Question settings:
Question Body — type the question text and optionally attach an image
Choices — add answer options; mark the correct answer
Randomise Choices — shuffle the order of answer choices for each Talent
Randomise Questions — shuffle the order of all questions in the quiz
Click + Multiple Choice or + True or False at the bottom of the questions list to add new questions.
📝 Note: The Quiz item is an in-course knowledge check. It is different from a Pathway-level assessment, which is configured at the Pathway level and can gate access or completion.
Saving Your Work
Click Save Changes (top right) at any time to save your progress. You can also click Show Talent Preview to open a side panel showing how the current item looks to Talents without leaving the builder.
