Editing & Managing Pathways

Learn how to update, modify, or archive existing pathways while maintaining learner progress integrity.

Written by Mohamed Shantory

Before You Start

  • You must be a Super Admin or an Admin with content management permissions

  • Only custom-built pathways (created by your team) can be edited. Pathways from the Lumofy Library are pre-configured and cannot be modified

  • Changes published to a live pathway apply to all currently enrolled Talents and all future enrolments

Overview

As your organization's learning needs evolve, you can update custom pathways to keep content fresh and aligned with new objectives. This includes updating details, adding or removing milestones and content items, adjusting configurations, and re-publishing to apply changes.

How to Edit a Pathway

  1. Go to Develop → Pathways

  2. Open the Pathway you want to edit

  3. Click Edit in the top right corner

  4. Move through the steps, make your changes, and publish when ready

What You Can Edit

Step 1: Pathway Details

  • Pathway Name — update the name at any time

  • Description — revise to reflect updated scope or audience

  • Objectives — add, edit, or remove learning objectives

📝 Note: The Pathway Language cannot be changed after the pathway is created. If you need the same pathway in a different language, create a new one.

Step 2: Pathway Builder

Milestones

  • Add new milestones to extend the learning journey

  • Delete existing milestones (this will also remove the content items inside them)

  • Update the due date for any milestone

Content Items

  • Add new Courses, Kits & Guides, Bites, Quizzes, or Checkpoints.

  • Remove existing content items

📝 Note: Psychometric Assessments cannot be added during the edit process.

Rules and Sequencing

  • Update the Minimum Passing Score for quizzes

  • Update the Number of Attempts allowed for quizzes

  • Toggle Items Order between Sequential (must take in order) and Free (any order)

Step 3: Pathway Configuration

All configuration settings remain editable after publishing:

  • Categories — update how the pathway is organised and discovered

  • Linked Competencies — add or remove competency links

  • Difficulty Level — adjust as the pathway content changes

  • Duration — update manually or re-enable auto-calculation

  • Pathway Cover — replace the cover image

Step 4: Review and Re-publish

The Summary step shows all your changes before they go live. Review everything, then click Publish Changes.

Changes are applied immediately to all currently enrolled Talents and all future enrolments.

💡 Tip: If you are making significant structural changes (removing milestones, changing item order), check the Enrolments tab first to understand how many Talents are currently in progress. Large changes to a pathway mid-journey can disrupt the experience for active learners.

FAQs

Will currently enrolled Talents lose their progress if I edit the pathway?

Progress on completed items is retained. However, if you remove an item a Talent has already completed, that item will no longer appear in their progress. If you add new items, those will appear as pending for all currently enrolled Talents.

Can I revert changes after publishing?

No. Once you click Publish Changes, the update is live. If you need to undo, you will need to manually re-edit the pathway and re-publish.

Can I edit a pathway that has Talents currently enrolled?

Yes. Editing a published pathway does not unenrol Talents. They continue with the updated version of the pathway.

Why can't I edit the pathway language?

Language is set at creation and cannot be changed. If you need the pathway in a different language, create a new pathway and select the target language in Step 1.
