Participating in Performance Reviews

A guide to opening your performance review sheet, rating your goals and competencies, and navigating through each section before submitting.

Written by Mohamed Shantory

Before You Begin

  • Your performance review opens only when your admin has started the review window for the cycle.

  • You will see a pending task in Things To Do on your dashboard when the review is ready.

  • Completing the review means going through each section: Goals, Competencies, Appraisals, Trainings, and Potential.

How to Open Your Review

  1. From your dashboard, click the review task in Things To Do, or navigate to My Performance in the top bar.

  2. Select the active cycle.

  3. Click Open Sheet or Start Review to open your performance review.

The review opens as a full-screen overlay.

Performance Areas

The left panel shows Performance Areas — a list of all sections in your review. Each section can be expanded or collapsed:

  • Goals — each goal assigned to you in the current cycle

  • Competencies — each competency you are being assessed on

  • Appraisals — qualitative appraisal questions (if enabled for your cycle)

  • Trainings — training needs linked to your role

  • Potential — a potential rating section

Click any section name to jump to it. The active section is highlighted.

Rating Your Goals

When the Goals section is open, each goal is listed with its name, status, target date, and progress.

For each goal:

  1. Review the goal details — name, description, and current progress.

  2. In the right panel, answer "How would you rate your performance for this goal?" by selecting a score on the 1–5 scale. The rating label updates as you select (e.g., Meets Expectations).

  3. Add a Comment in the text field below the scale to explain your rating or add context.

  4. Click Next Goal to move to the next goal in the list.

Use Previous Goal to go back and revise a rating before submitting.

Competencies, Appraisals and Trainings

After completing Goals, click Competencies in the left panel. The process is similar:

  • Rate each item on the scale provided.

  • Add a comment where needed.

  • Navigate with Next / Previous to move between items.

Repeat the same steps for Appraisals and Trainings until all sections are complete.

Submitting Your Review

Once all sections are filled in, a Submit button becomes available. Click it to submit your review to your manager.

After submission, your sheet status updates to Submitted and you will no longer be able to edit your ratings unless your manager returns the sheet to you.

FAQ

What does the rating scale represent?

The 1–5 scale maps to rating labels defined by your organization — for example: 1 = Unacceptable, 3 = Meets Expectations, 5 = Outstanding. Exact labels depend on your cycle setup.

Can I save and continue later?

Yes. Your ratings are saved as you go. You can close the review and return to it at any time before submitting, as long as the review window is still open.

What happens if I miss a section?

You cannot submit until all required sections are completed. Any incomplete items will be flagged when you try to submit.

Where can I see my submitted review?

Go to My Performance, select the cycle, and open your sheet. Submitted ratings are visible in read-only mode.
